What Is Big City Studio Children's Church?

Big City Studio is our Sunday School ministry for 1st – 5th graders that engages kids and holds their attention. It connects with kids. Our Directors (teachers) developed a relationship with the children as they connect with them through worshiping with them, interacting with them, engaging them, and having fun with them.

Big City Studio also penetrates a child’s heart with relevant truth from God’s Word. It is our desire for God’s Word to become real and alive to all the children who hear it. We desire to turn on a light inside of each child:

Because of that, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. Pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a light shining in a dark place until the day Christ appears and his brilliant light shines in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19

Each week the Fellowship Hall will be transformed into a movie studio where children (grades 1-5) will be together and through props and interaction will experience:

The Curious Thing

  • The Curious Thing: A simple object that makes the kids stop and think about what the lesson might possibly be about. It is a simple object that prompts a little curiosity about the lesson.

Stick to the Script - Scripture Memory Game

  • A game or activity designed to teach the memory verse of the week.

Shout It Out Phrase

  • Played like “Wheel of Fortune” the Shout It Out Phrase is the main idea of the lesson.

Make a Scene

  • Make A Scene is the kids acting out the Bible story.  There is no rehearsal or lines to memorize.  It is ad-lib but closely parallels the scripture text of the story.  This allows the kids to SEE, SAY and DO the Bible story.

Knot of the Week

  • The Knot of the Week is a phrase using the word “NOT”.  It is a phrase associated with the lesson.  For example: if the lesson is about fear, the “Knot of the Week” might be “Because the Lord cares about me, I will NOT be afraid.”

Impact Skit

  • The Impact Skit will be a short, fun skit provided by three reoccurring characters that seems to interrupt the program, but instead illustrates the main point of the lesson. The skit will help illustrate how the lesson applies in real life.

Reel Time

  •  Reel Time is a phrase with the word “REAL” in it.  The purpose of the Reel Time phrase is to reinforce the main point of the lesson or to challenge a child to act on the lesson.  For example a Reel Time phrase may be “The Lord takes REAL good care of me.”

Play Back

  • A Play Back is the review time designed to help remind kids about the Bible story and the main points from the lesson.

We’ve noticed a need in our congregation to minister to a growing attendance of children with special needs. We advertised for assistance and what a wonderful response we have received from adults who are interested in helping us minister in this area. We are in the process of setting up a team and are meeting and planning. If you are interested in this ministry or if you have a child that you feel would benefit from this ministry please contact . We’d love to hear from you!
